I'm Alex, and I’m passionate about leveraging my diverse skill set to solve the complex problems our capital community faces. Currently I work as a GIS Technician and Planner in Fluvanna County, Virginia, where I review and approve site plans and develop special projects in GIS.

In my recent internship with the Hopewell City Development and Planning Office, I played a key role in both technical and administrative tasks, including spatial analysis, map creation, environmental reviews for grants, and improving filing systems. This experience has honed my ability to deliver results in dynamic, multifaceted environments, collaborating across departments and contributing to city-wide initiatives.

I have completed a GIS Certificate from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Data Analytics Google Certificate, but my educational background includes a minor in Geology from the College of Charleston, where I assisted in labs and helped facilitate student learning. I also hold a master’s degree in Germanic Studies from the University of Maryland, a program that sharpened my critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. Over the past several years, I’ve applied these skills as a German teacher in Hanover County, managing multiple classrooms and 70+ students across various proficiency levels. This role allowed me to develop strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, all of which I continue to refine and apply in every aspect of my work.
